Anna Duboc has done it again with her latest single, “Mystery Lady,” which showcases her exceptional songwriting and vocal talents. Co-written and co-produced with Matias Mora, who has worked with the likes of Katy Perry and Cyn, the song is a beautiful blend of Anna’s unique style and Mora’s expertise.
Duboc’s music has found its way into the hearts of her fans with its poignant singing and songwriting style, born from a love of music that has run through her veins from a young age. Her journey as an artist began with her involvement in musicals, where her appreciation for the emotional connection that music brings was nurtured. Her mother’s love for harmonious melodies also cemented her musical gene, which has led her down a path of success and triumph as a solo artist.
Duboc is heavily inspired by the elusive sounds and lyrical connections artists such as Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Lizzie McAlpine, and Conan Gray bring forth in their music. She takes these characteristics and brings a unique touch to her music by instilling a personal sense of emotion into each song, aiming to connect with her fans.
“Mystery Lady” opens with an eerie and mysterious melody that sets the mood for the rest of the song. Anna’s vocals come in, drawing the listener in with her alluring delivery, before transitioning into the upbeat chorus, where Anna showcases her range with ease. The lyrics tell the story of a woman who is capable of anything if pushed far enough; whoever dares to find out might regret it is the name of the game with this one.
Anna’s penmanship shines through in the song’s verses. She uses vivid imagery and metaphorical lyrics to convey the feelings of uncertainty, like a black widow creeping up on her unknowing prey. The chorus is catchy and bright, contrasting with the spooky backdrop of the music. The “Mystery Lady,” her voice and the beat her vocals sail over are a force to be reckoned with; Anna undoubtedly drives that point home.
“Mystery Lady” production is top-notch, with Anna’s concept and Matias Mora’s expert programming and production bringing the track to life. The music video, directed by Mimi Lee, perfectly complements the song, adding intrigue and mystique to the captivating lyrics.
With “Mystery Lady,” Anna Duboc has again proven her main stay within the music industry. Her unique style, smokey delivery, and exceptional songwriting make her a standout among her peers. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this rising star.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Anna Duboc! congrats on letting the mystery out with your latest release, “Mystery Lady.” What inspired the lyrics of “Mystery Lady?” Can you tell us a bit about the story behind the song? I have had this title for a while, and when we developed the track, it seemed fitting. The song is about the darker side of someone you rarely see, only when you betray/hurt them.
In “Mystery Lady,” you co-wrote and co-produced with Matias Mora. Can you describe your collaboration process with him and how you combined your unique styles to create the song? Matias and I work well together. It is just easy and creative. I had an idea of a vibe, and we wrote the music together in the studio. I came up with the chorus and melody, then worked on the story for the verses. They had a good-sounding track in about 4-5 hours, and we recorded the lead vocal. I finished all of the backgrounds and harmonies in my home studio.
Can you share any details about any upcoming projects or collaborations in the works? How do you think these new ventures will challenge and inspire you as an artist? I will release four tracks throughout the spring and summer of 2023 that I co-produced and co-wrote. As a writer, I’m always learning more about using metaphors and writing lyrics that concisely convey feelings. So, I look forward to seeing how people respond. I will also perform a few songs for Writers Block at the Hollywood Cafe on March 14, which should be fun.
“Mystery Lady” showcases your talent as both a co-writer and co-producer. Can you speak to the importance of having creative control in your music? I am very blessed to be able to record things I like. There have been times when I have been given opportunities to sing other people’s music and be a part of someone else’s vision, and even though it was a hard decision, I said no. Looking back, I am glad I held my ground because I can develop my style and sound and be true to who I am.
What do you hope to achieve in the next year or two with your music career? Do you have any specific goals or milestones that you are aiming for? I want to write more songs and develop my sound. I hope I can put out music people like and, hopefully, lyrics that help them get through whatever they are going through. This summer, I will be doing some shows, and eventually, it would be nice to open for someone like Lizzy McAlpine, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift etc. I am not in a hurry, though. I have many things I want to explore and want to keep my options open.
