  5. Naluda Magazine: Interview with...

September 9, 2022

Check out our interview with indie/pop/soul artist Anna Duboc who just released her new single “Sinking Feeling” today!

Anna’s influences are Billie Eilish, Conan Grey, Joji, Girl in Red, and Olivia Rodriquez. In trying to capture the essence and musical excitement of Anna Duboc, the standard clichés we usually reach for to describe such a phenomenon – naturally gifted, prodigy, old soul, on fire – seem limiting.

Having sung with everyone from Katy Perry and Andrea Bocelli to Kenny Loggins, the multi-talented 15-year-old singer/songwriter is quickly emerging as a powerful, eloquent and inspirational voice of her generation. Over the past year, she has released a series of popular live performance piano and voice videos that have earned her over 5 million views on YouTube.

Describe your sound in 3 words?

Soulful, emotional, and new.

Tell us about your new single “Running.” What’s the story behind the song?

I wrote Running a month or two ago, it’s about trying to get away from your past, running from anything that could bring up past trauma.

Do you write your own songs? Or participate in the process of the writing?

Yes, I write all of my own songs and I love coming up with lyrics and melodies.

Tell us about your experience of singing with big names in the industry like Katy Perry, Andrea Bocelli and Kenny Loggins?

Singing with people who are so influential to pop culture is really cool and an amazing experience. All three of those musicians are so talented and I’m so glad I got to participate in something with them.

Do you have an artist that you want to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with Gracie Abrams, Conan Gray, Lizzy McAlpine. All of those artists are great inspiration for me.

What book should every entrepreneur read?

Not sure, I mostly read SciFi/Dystopian books.

What would you say are the greatest lessons you learned so far?

It’s better to have 2-3 really good friends that you trust than a million surface level friends.

What advice would you give to your younger self and why?

Focus on yourself every once and a while, your emotions need healing too.

If you are a book, what would be the title of the book and why?

“I’m too indecisive to come up with a title”.

What’s next for Anna Duboc in the last months of 2022?

Hopefully more music ?

What would be the dream holiday, and who would you go with?

I would go to Hawaii in the spring with my best friend or New York.

Best advice ever given?

Listen to your gut, it’s usually right.

Do you support any charity?

No Kid Hungry, Compassion International, and Harvest Home

Favorite song? Why?

My favorite song changes daily, but today it’s Elephant Love Medley from Moulin Rouge (yes I’m a theatre kid). Something about it makes me want to belt it out, both Satin and Christian’s part.
